Hi - I am sure this topic has already been discussed at some point but as I have just joined and probably missed the answer... I will ask it anyhooo!!
I had IPT last year and am back to normal for now - are people with ITP more at risk from swine flu as it affects their immune system?? |

I'm no doctor but I assume that having ITP itself makes us no more at risk. Being immunosuppressed if we're on steroids or some of the other drugs may mean that we catch it more easily and maybe have a harder time with it.
Also catching any virus can make our platelets go down and start off the ITP cycle again although in my case mine go up when I get flu so that's by no means always the case. |

| I try not to worry about it. I have 3 of the things that put me in the high risk mark. |
