Can any one tell please (with a reasonable degree of certainty)) when Elthrombopag is likely to receive clearance in the UK and thus be aqvailable for prescription.

Hi Richard,
I saw my haematologist last week and he thinks it will not be available until the end of this year - he is awaiting confirmation of this.
Best wishes,
Angela. |

I too was after information on any clinical tests with elthrombopag, I'm currently using Win Rho for my ITP and it only seems to temporarily raise my platelet count to early seventies at best. I've been through pretty much all other treatmens (steriods, rituximab, transfusions, haemoglobulins etc) all to no avail. I wish to exhaust my options before any thought of a splenectomy.
I wondered how the trials had gone, how people who've tested it have reacted. My consultant was under the impression it would be available towards the end of march, but we'd have to make a case and application for me to use it.
I'd also be interested to here about any Romiplastin trialists as that is another option that may soon become available.
Thanks!

This drug has just been given the go ahead in Europe. NICE is looking at it and will no doubt decide it's too expensive but when the drug company does start selling it in the UK it'll be up to each Health Trust to decide if they want to grant access to it.
Anyone trialling it in the UK? |
